To Whom It May Concern,
Subject: An Open Letter Addressing Unfair Treatment of Australian Firearms Industry in Business Transactions
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring attention to a pressing issue that affects law-abiding Australian firearms dealers and others in the firearms industry who, despite being licensed and adhering to regulations, face discrimination in their daily business dealings with banks, EFTPOS providers, and social media platforms.
It has come to my attention that many businesses in the firearms industry are encountering obstacles in securing basic financial services and utilizing online platforms for their businesses. These individuals, who are legally permitted to operate, find themselves at a disadvantage due to unfair treatment that hampers their ability to earn a decent living.
Financial institutions, including banks and EFTPOS providers, play a pivotal role in facilitating business transactions. However, the Australian firearms industry reports difficulties in obtaining essential services, such as account management and payment processing. This not only impedes their day-to-day operations but also restricts their potential for growth and prosperity.
Furthermore, social media platforms, which serve as vital marketing tools for businesses in the modern era, appear to be exacerbating the issue. Discrimination against firearms dealers and those in the industry on these platforms limits their reach and obstructs their ability to connect with potential customers.
It is crucial to emphasize that these firearms industry businesses operate within the boundaries of the law, obtaining and maintaining the necessary licenses to conduct their business legally and responsibly. Denying them fair access to essential services and online platforms contradicts the principles of equality and fairness that should govern our society.
I urge you to address and rectify these discriminatory practices. It is essential to create an environment where all law-abiding businesses, including firearms dealers, can thrive without facing unnecessary discrimination. By doing so, we contribute to a fair and just society that respects the rights and livelihoods of all its citizens.
In addition, it's worth highlighting that the firearms community serves as a unifying force, bringing together a diverse array of individuals ranging from avid hunters and dedicated farmers to skilled Olympic sports enthusiasts and everyone in between. This broad spectrum of participants underscores the multifaceted nature of the firearms community, fostering a shared passion that transcends backgrounds and professions. Beyond the pursuit of individual interests, it plays a pivotal role in uniting families and friends, providing a common ground for shared experiences and camaraderie. By celebrating the inclusive nature of the firearms community, we acknowledge the importance of mutual respect and understanding among its members, promoting a sense of community that extends far beyond the shooting range.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am hopeful that you will take the necessary steps to ensure a level playing field for Australian firearms dealers and the firearms industry in their pursuit of a decent living.
Sincerely,
Jo Barton

We would like to thank everyone who has shared, talked about and read our open letter regarding the discrimination the Firearms Industry receives.
Tony Pasin MP member for Barker gave a industry's yesterday in Federal Parliament speaking about the firearms industries plight with banking and social media.
So good that politicians are actually talking about firearms in a normal way and not just about gun crime.
Tony isn't our member (we are the last property before it changes to Barker) but we met him at a meeting and gave him a copy of our letter and spoke with him at length. Tony is also a vocal supporter in the Aerial Deer Culling Debate in the South East of SA.
A great step in getting our politicians to change the way they speak about firearms and firearms businesses in a positive way rather than talking about firearms negatively all of the time.
Thank you Tony Pasin MP for bringing this to the Federal Parliament when so many other members of parliament are too scared to even mention the words "firearms"
The ANZ contacted us a few weeks ago, regarding this and offered to open an account and give us an eftpos machine. Long story short, they were making "allowances" for us regading their policies wiht Eftpos machine use. Therefore we felt they were trying to keep appease us rather than supporting the firearms industry. We have decided to stay with beyond bank who have supported us from the outset

Racing radicalized fringe anti-hunting ideologies, watch our team of American and Australian hunters, scientists and conservationists join forces to collect and archive invaluable biological waterfowl data before duck hunting is possibly outlawed there forever. In the absence of credible science, there's only emotional ideology and political bias--which means blindly managing renewable waterfowl resources. In many ways, the battle for a continuance of hunting in Australia is a pivotal domino; the battleground regarding how waterfowl should be managed in the future and who shall best safeguard their populations in perpetuity. Shall societies worldwide allow for consumptive-use stakeholders continued involvement? Or do we choose a strictly hands-off approach and risk continued habitat loss due to benign neglect? How important are the biological inquiries presented here to waterfowl and to humanity--both present and future? Thanks to Safari Club International, Field and Game Australia, Electrical Trade Union Victoria, and the many Australia hunters for making this research happen and to preserve hunting traditions. Thanks also to hunters in Australia and beyond for putting their time and money towards habitat conservation and sustainable game bird populations in perpetuity. #getducks #itsduckseasonsomewhere #battlegroundaustralia #australiaduckhunting
